Short Answer: Decision Day Is December 15, 2026

For the 2026–27 ADEA AADSAS cycle (students applying in summer 2026 for Fall 2027 entry), the national acceptance notification date is December 15, 2026.

That is the earliest date participating schools may begin releasing acceptances. It is not the day every applicant hears back — and it is not a rejection deadline.

Always double-check ADEA AADSAS important dates — cycles can shift by a day or two year to year.

What “Decision Day” Actually Means

Decision Day (also called the dental school acceptance notification date) is a coordinated ADEA rule: schools wait until that date to start offering seats for the cycle.

What it is not:

  • A single email blast to every applicant
  • The only day acceptances happen
  • A guarantee you will hear “yes” or “no” that week

Many programs use rolling admissions. Strong early applicants may get interviews in late summer/fall and then an offer on or shortly after Dec 15. Others interview into winter/spring and admit later from waitlists.

What Happens Before December 15?

Typical flow for a Fall 2027 applicant:

  1. 1June 2026+ — submit AADSAS early; verification (often ~4–6 weeks)
  2. 2Summer–fall — secondaries, Casper if required, interviews
  3. 3Dec 15, 2026 — first wave of formal acceptances may go out
  4. 4Winter–spring 2027 — more offers, waitlist movement, deposit decisions
  5. 5By ~April 1 — commonly, applicants should hold one seat (multiple-deposit rules matter — follow AADSAS/school policies)

If you have not interviewed by Decision Day, you are not automatically out — later interview invites still happen.

Acceptance, Waitlist, or Silence?

Outcome near Decision DayWhat it usually means
AcceptanceSeat offered — read deposit deadlines carefully
WaitlistStill in play; schools move lists into spring
No updateCommon — many files are still in review
RejectionPossible after review; not everyone hears on Dec 15

Do not spiral on Dec 14. Refresh status portals, but keep studying/working your plan. Anxiety does not change the committee calendar.

Holding Multiple Acceptances

If you receive more than one offer:

  • Compare cost, location, curriculum, and fit — not just brand name
  • Know deposit refund policies and AADSAS multiple-acceptance reporting rules
  • By the spring deadline (often around April 1), plan to commit to one program

When in doubt, ask each school’s admissions office for written policy — do not rely only on forum lore.
